My biggest<br \/>\nregret is that I didn\u2019t appreciate her more when she was here. My<br \/>\nmother left when I was four, and I never saw her again until a few<br \/>\nweeks ago. Looking back, I realize how involved my Aunt Cecilia was<br \/>\nin my life. She had cancer, so her death wasn\u2019t a complete<br \/>\nsurprise. I sat with her one afternoon about a month before she<br \/>\npassed, and told her how much she meant to me. We had a chance to<br \/>\nremember some of the crazy things I did as a teenager when I was<br \/>\ngoing through a rebellious phase. She kept me out of trouble with my<br \/>\ndad, who was a deputy sheriff. She was always there when I needed<br \/>\nher, with a smile, or a hug, or just to listen. It\u2019s hard being<br \/>\nwithout her now, knowing I\u2019ll never see her again. If I did, it would be a dog. A big one, like<br \/>\na German shepherd or a Rottweiler. One that would be good for<br \/>\nprotection, but well-trained. But lately I\u2019m not so sure about the single part. I may<br \/>\nreconsider that. Having children might not be so bad.
