Who Am I? An Author’s Bio #OpenBook Blog Hop

When was the last time you updated your bio? Do you want to share it?

Do you have any advice for other authors?

I have several versions of my bio floating around. I’m not happy with any of them.

This is currently posted on this site:

Who is P.J. MacLayne? Glad you asked! Unlike the books I write, it’s no mystery: I’m the author of the urban fantasy/paranormal series The Free Wolves, as well as the Harmony Duprie Mysteries. I live in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains, I’m the mother to two amazing adults, wife to a great husband, and lover of nature and the wild.

Yes, it’s outdated and desperately in need of updating. And this is the one I used for publicity in my last book release.

After many years, P.J. MacLayne has returned to the rolling hills of Pennsylvania where she grew up, and from which she has drawn inspiration for many of her stories. Now that she has retired, she is devoting her time to gardening, writing, and relaxing. She is the author of The Free Wolves series, the Harmony Duprie Mysteries, and the Harmony Duprie companion stories. (the Jake Hennessey suspense books.) Her current project, a dark mystery, is Book 2 of the Edwards Investigations, a series set in Pittsburgh in the mid 1980s.

Of course, I need to update my bio as I get ready to release my newest book, The Donovan File. But I still get stuck on not wanting to share too much personal information. And what’s enough and what’s too much? It’s not like I have fans tearing apart the internet, trying to find me so they can invade my personal space. I live in a town so small it’s practically a village, but folks around here are pretty good at giving their neighbors privacy. Still, there’s always someone who knows somebody who is friends with a friend and heard about whatever piece of information they asked about. What amazes me is how few know anything about me and my books. It’s confusing and amusing at the same time.

So, if you have any advice for what I should do with my bio, I’d love to hear it. Just drop it in the comments.

I’m eager to see the biographies of our other authors. Just follow the links below to check them out.

And, as always, please stay safe until the next time.

  1. I don’t think any of us like sharing too much personal information on our bios. I just add the county I live in, whether or not I’m married, and add a few awards that my books have won.

  2. I wish I had awards to add to my bio!

  3. I keep forgetting to update the number of books in my bio, other than that, there’s nothing to change.
